Until I read the latest posts I was unaware that you had been there and had a bad experience. I'm biased because in my total of a year in S. America, during which I met many many moto travellers, I didn't come across one who was less than at least happy with their DM experience.

I had no expectations. When I contacted the Bs As community from the UK in 2003 with an innocent enquiry, I thought I might get a one line answer, if I was lucky. I got one reply, much much more helpful and comprehensive than I could have dreamt, and made a beeline for the senders' emporium (not then a hostel) as soon as my plane landed. No prizes for guessing where.

Slight exagerration here Phillipe. Apart from the thread initiator, eight people have posted; five have supported DM; two are neutral (at least one of whom is in competion with Javi) and you're the eighth.

It's a real shame that, for whatever reason, your experience was bad. I also would be pleased to share a beer or two with you if our tyre tracks cross. Tesch (sorry Grant: rude word!) next year?

Come on chaps - let's be having some latitudes and longitudes, names, phones, emails and addresses of useful places like mechanics, tyre shops etc for all to benefit from when they come to your town or elsewhere!
