Transferring Temporary Import Permit between individuals!
 

A friend will be joining me on a motorcycle trip soon and i wanted to know if anyone has had any luck getting the seller of the bike to change the name on the TIP document to the buyer by going to the local custom's office and getting a new one issued. Would love to know which countries this has worked in for everyone or any other solutions that others have found when buying/selling foreign plated bikes on the continent.

Only speaking from the experiences I've had.

I bought a bike in Chile with the tip in the previous owners name. Crossed the border with a PODER (power of attorney document, if you search it it's a pretty well covered topic) into Bolivia. I then bought another bike in Bolivia and crossed into Perú also on a Poder.
