Exactly, best season for the BR-319 is July - August, and dry season for the Lethem-Georgetown segment is October-March... :frown:

Sounds like best trip for TDF is departing US/ Mexico border around October and heading down the West side of SA going South for the new year and then turning North and slowly working way in the southern countries and making way into Brazil and head to Porto Velho and either boat it or BR 319 to Manaus and then head to Macapa by boat to the Guyanas and then back into SA and on to USA over approx 1 year timespan trying to stay away from the rainy seasons in Brasil and Guyanas. Kinda fast going down and slower coming back. Any suggestions or ideas.

Thanks Marker for the offer, I hope to get the chance to meet you.
Have Happy New Year to all. John :scooter:

This C5 off advrider?
Yeah. Thanks for the information. Thought I would start looking on here too for information. This site, Central and South America 2006/7. , mentioned also in this thread helps a lot.

I am still interested in the price of the boats for shipping rider and bike incase the BR 319 is not passable. The website above cleared up alot about the possibilties of travel the three Guyanas and I am looking forward to seeing two of them again on the upcoming trip. Thanks agian for your help.

I will probably meet up with you in Carti at the big Rally Nov '09 if you are planning on going.:funmeteryes:

My bad, that's just my short slang Carti = Cartagena because I have a hard time remembering the spelling all these places. I'm looking forward to going to both these towns if possible. Thanks for the clarification I will remember the spelling of that one from now on. You going to the event? I would not mind following you back to Vzla after the rally. I mean the Carti island.

Found this article,

Faustão, pesquisei no Porto Cai n'água, aqui em Porto Velho e fui informado que os barcos levam as motos. Para levar a moto cobram R$ 150,00 e o Motoqueiro é o seguinte:
Na rede - R$ 100,00;
O camarote (2 pessoas) - R$ 350,00
A suíte (2 pessoas c/ WC Privado) R$ 400,00

on the link Porto Velho - Manaus - Porto Velho : Amazonas - Página 2 - Mochileiros.com

So apparently for a bike it is R$ 150,00
rede= hammock
camarote = cabin
Prices include meals
