TIP in Argentina
 

Hello. Last year I left a Spanish motorcycle parked in Mendoza. The vehicle had a temporary import permit of 7 months. When I return in October, it would be outdated. Does anyone know what solution it would take to get on the motorcycle to Chile or Bolivia?

Legally it now belongs to the Argentine government. Your best bet is to sneak it out into Paraguay or Bolivia at the most remote border crossing. Once you have accomplished this DO NOT re-enter Argentina.

There is a small dirtroad crossing to chile west of malargüe. I crossed there 2 years ago and the army guys there had no idea what to do. I filled out the paperwork myself and drove away. The Chilean borderpost is some miles away ,has computers and is very organized. No idea if this helps you , still might be an idea

If by west of Malargue you are talking about "Paso Vergara", I can confirm that the guys there knew how the TIP process worked when I rolled thru in January.
