TESTIMONIALS WANTED - Honda Falcon NX400

Thinking about using this bike for trek from Santiago to Bogota. Of those available this seems good value. Any feedback on experiences with this bike much appreciated.

bulletproof, easy to service, only weak spot is cam chain tensioner which is small so u can carry spare and only takes a few minutes to change.
strongly recomend mineral oil only and Jaso MA2, this avoids any chance of clutch slippage.

IMHO a really piece of S.., mayor weak spot is the sub-frame that bends and break under stress like carrying standard travellers luggage with or without a passenger.

Change oil is a pain in the a.., as is a dry sump and oil reservoir is under the plastics than needs to be removed for don’t make a mess. The reservoir itself need to be put aside for tappets check.

Clutch springs and friction plates are made for a 125cc, needs to be replace for the XR400 (Japan) ones for a safe use (without slippery).

Steel wheels rims instead of lighter and proved better aluminum ones.
Suspension front forks and rear shock absorber get weak very fast.

Much better choice for a Brazilian bike is the XR250 Tornado, the XRE300, or the Yamaha XTZ250. It’s only a 10/15 Kms/h difference on the max speed.

Saludos

I agree with Caminito. Have one and have improved on it and is a GREAT bike! It will be available in central Peru mid June.

Pat Thompson and Sheonagh Ravensdale used a pair to ride around the world and found them very capable bikes which I think they still have.
