Strikes on several roads in Colombia.

Whatch out riders coming to Colombia today or even the next week. There are several points affected by indigenous and afro comunities protesting against the government.
These are at Panamericana highway (if we can call it highway:nono:) Villarica, Cauca on the Popayan-Cali road in the southern. Valdivia, Antioquia on the road that goes from Medellin to Caribbean coastline and scattered strikes in Irra, Caldas, 140 km south of Medellin.
Ride safe.

Great info thanks, that will directly affect us through Irra as we are heading through there tomorrow toward Bogota, will change plan/direction to avoid it if we can.

Cheers Andi

AnyThing you need just let me know, I live in Pereira, great places to know around here.

Even if you are riding south from Medellin, you can do it by Supia, just after the toll in La Felisa intead you take left to Irra, take Right, you will find Supia, Riosucio, Anserma, La Virginia and you are in the main road again, it's little longer but the sightseeing is much much better and the road is in good condition, not crowded with trucks, don't do it at night.

Already done that through to Armenia, only reason we are heading back that way is we have a fraudulent transaction of $930 USD on our account from Guatemala when we were in El Salvador which Wells Fargo (wells fugwits) won't give back so we have to go to Bogota to get our passports notarised and affidavits to prove we were not in Guatemala when the transaction was done ...wankers.

Anyway, we can sneak through the back road if we need ,no biggy beautiful scenery, gravel NO trucks, empanadas :D, lets hope mum nature plays ball bierbier

Thank you for that, we may drop a line if things get crappy, local knowledge is worth millions.

Gracias amigo, buenas noche.

Road through from Medellin to Mariquita via Manizales today, no action whatsoever.

We saw some burning stuff at one point only and no one blocking anything.

Off to Bogota tomorrow.

Being around Mariquita- Honda should try a fruit called Mangostino. it's sweet.
