Storing a motorcycle in Lima or Quito

I'm considering taking a break from my 3+ year South America trip, but I would like to continue in perhaps 3-6 months.

I'm looking for rules and regulations about storing a vehicle in either Lima or Quito. Basically:

1. Where can i store the vehicle?
2. For how long can i store the vehicle (my preference is 3-6 months while I return home and sort out visas, etc)
3. What is the procedure? Eg. Do i visit sunat? What do i need to pay? Etc
4. Is Lima better than Quito for this type of thing? Why or why not?

I can be in Lima (assuming the protests settle down) in 5 weeks. That will leave me with roughly 4 weeks remaining on my visa. I can be in Quito in about 8 weeks, with around 11 weeks left on that visa. The 3-6 months will begin once the vehicle goes into storage.

I don't know the details on the regs, but if it were me I would rather store it in Quito. Lima is kind of a dump in my opinion.

One good thing about Lima versus Quito is the temperature, but either way you will probably be looking at a new battery.

Cuenca in Ecuador is a city where KTM's are pretty popular. It would be a neat city to do some trail riding for a week.

There is a great KTM dealer in Cuenca, and a great shop in Quito, MOTO HELL, that will be able to give you great info and help.
I stored mine both at Toby's Round the Block Tours,(up in the Andes) and in Lima. depending on where you want to fly out. I enjoyed Lima, specifically Miraflores.
The important part is to NOT let your TVIP permit expire. Return before or in Peru you can extend it.
Excellent choices
