Santiago to Ushuia in 10 dyas...possible?

Could someone confirm to me that I can get to Ushuia from santiago in 10 days via the Carretera Austral. I am in some hostel where the owner recons it cant be done. Can someone give me some advise, and also about the ferry that i will need to take to link the two roads.

thanks

Simon

Can't you cross over to ruta 40? I met with the Pooles in Viedma and they said big chunks of it is now paved, rest is in good condition, better than careterra austral.
