Santa Marta, Colombia, peaks safety?

What is the current situation in the Santa Marta mountains area? Are they now relatively safe for hiking/climbing? Or still "no-go" for gringo's?

Minca is one of my favorite places in the world. I am in Barranquilla visiting my wife's family for the holidays and will probably make it over to Santa Marta sometime in the next week. Let me know if you need some specifics. Minca is only about 20 miles up the Sierra Nevadas.

Exactly as Samson66 said, Minca is a not so far place where you can visit and know a little bit more about coffee culture.
If you are more interested in Old native cultures you can do the trekking tour to Pueblo perdido it takes like 6 days but that one is highly recommended to do with a tour guide that can be found in Taganga o Santa Marta.

Enjoy:welcome:
