Not only is Reginaldo the perfect host---friendly, informed, connected, interesting, intelligent, funny, openminded, adventurous and possessed of a wonderfully warm mother and a ridiculously cute niece....but he also gives good riding advice.

Paso de Jama is paved and easily ridden in a half-day. Be prepared for altitude and cold, however, and don't be up there after dark. I don't know how often it snows, but the fact that nearby parts of the altiplano have been shut down all week by snowstorms suggests that you inquire locally and exercise a bit of caution.

Hope that helps. Reginaldo: Boa sorte para você e sua família!

Thank you

Thank you guys,

Just what I was looking for.Ive decided to head to San Antonio de los Cobres to get use to the elevation(dont want to be falling asleep on the bike) and see if the pass will open any time soon.

Once again big thanks, this is my first post and been surprised how quickly you can get good info here.

Hey Holly

Hi Holly,
Have to reply via the thread unfortunatly because I havent got enough posts to send a private message.Yeah we can meet up for a Drink. Was up at San Antonio de los cobres the other day and the Gendarmerie told me the passes are closed.Gets very cold once the sun dissapears over the horizon. As for tyres, you can find them in Salta but they are expensive.Changed to Mt21"s myself.A lot of motorcycle shops on Jujuy,Pelligrini and Ituzaingo streets.Start from San Martin and work your way south on those streets.Moto max is a big store on San Luis 921.On the corner of Jujuy just south from San Martin is another good store.
Hope this helps.Im free most of the day.Just Pm me a time and place to meet.Plaza 9 de Julio is always interesting.
