Routes from North America to Argentina
 

Does anyone have any good suggestions on long way down routes from North America to Argentina? We are looking at options having ridden 33,000kilometers from Cape Town and now in UK. We did plan to go to China but we are now looking at the Americas. Any good links or articles/ blogs?

Welcome to the HUBB SA forum. There are literally hundereds of articles and blogs referenced from here. Whichever way you decide to go will be amazing and there are unlimited options.
I'm on the panam in Peru heading north at the moment.

To very loosely summarize a main route to orient yourself, google pan american highway. Of course the more interesting roads are off this route, but it'll give you some ideas as a starting point.

You can do all of South America without touching the Panam (except much of Chile!). From mid Ecuador to mid Chile, the Panam is BOORING DESERT!

From Quito go south down the center to Banos, cross into Peru to Jaen and straight down the center of Peru, past Cuzco, La Paz, Bolivia, across Bolivia, into Argentina and down the east side of the Andes hitting all the best spots all the way to Tierra del Fuego.

Don't do the Panam! doh PLEASE! You will miss all the best of South America!

Aye, but I quite like desert. We don't have many of them in Europe so it's a bit of a novelty.
Anyway, the main reason I'm on the PanAm is that I was stuck for so long in Arica that I'm running out of cash and need to get a move on.

STAY AWAY FROM LIMA! :nono: I can show you a little route around. Hostels and gas (the refineries are in the jungle) are cheaper inland than on the coast.

I went through Lima yesterday. The traffic was mental but it was otherwise uneventful. I didn't realise how big Lima actually is. Maybe 60km of urban sprall. I'm up in Trujillo now, still deciding whether to head for Sullana tomorrow or the day after. I had more bike problems this afternoon, hopefully sorted out now. See the latest blog post for details.
