Riding trough South America with an European bike
 

Trying to decide wether to buy or send a bike to South America I wonder if anybody can enlighten me about the possibility to ride throughout the SA continent on a motorcycle with European plates. Is it a realistic alternative to buying a new one in Colombia or Chile? I mean from an administrative point of view Thanks.

Yes its done a thousands times before. But the bike must be in your name or your name through a poder.

It depends on a lot of things that you really need to decide for yourself, all the info has already been discussed many times on here. For example how to purchase a chilean or Colombian bike, or how to ship your own bike. Just have a search. Depends on you more than anything. If you want a Gs1200 or the like then you're probably better off shipping (assuming you have that type of budget) if not then maybe buying a smaller bike in south America would be better suited.
