RIDING WITH MY OWN MOTORBIKE (French Plate) in Argentina, Chili, Bolivia, Uruguay

Hi,

Can anyone clarify whether, as French citizen owning a French registered motorbike, I can travel and cross the borders of the subjected countries without problems?

Thanks and regards,

Pierre

Yes you can. No problem. Is there something in particular you're concerned about?

Hello. It depends on when you plan on traveling. I think you should check with the embassies of those countries for updated information. I live in Argentina and for now (as of 15 December) our borders are closed to our neighboring countries except for Argentine citizens and those who have permanent residency. I think you can enter from Uruguay on the ferry boat or through the international airport. But you would need a current covid19 test with negative results or go 14 days in quarantine. This is my understanding of the current restrictions. Things will probably change in a month or two. Hope this helps.

Have you thought of buying/renting wherever you go.

Might save leaving your bike behind in South America due to pandemics.

It will only take one mutation which the vaccine does not work against to start the fun of 2020 all over again. :(

I'll edit to add: My answer applies only if you wait until after the pandemic ends, but get on it before the next one starts.
