Riding a Chilean Registered Bike through South and Central America

Does anyone know about the law concerning riding a bike purchased and registered in Chile out of Chile through South and Central America? I'm an American, thinking of buying and kitting out a Euromot and riding it North.

Here is an excellent post on buying a bike in Chile.
BUYING MOTORBIKE - CHILE (2009/2010)

But I'm wondering about the laws of riding in other countries on a Chilean registered bike, as an American. How far could I conceivably ride it? Columbia, Central America, could I get it to the States? Assuming it lasts that long.:biggrin3:

Any advice or tips would be great, thanks.

Joe,

I am planning the same thing when I get to in the beginning of January. From what I could discover on this site you can leave Chile and go most places in SA. The only places I have read that there are issues Are Peru and potentially Brazil. From what I understand Peru won't let a Chilean motorcycle in if it is coming from Chile, but if you first come from Argentina or Bolivia then it is ok, again from what I have read.
