Rent bikes from Ride-chile.com or rideadv.com

Hi,

We are two guys planning a 4 week trip through Chile, Argentina, Bolivia.

We are planning to rent 2 x BMW 650 GS - starting from 1. June 2014. We will start in Santiago, Chile and ride northward through Argentina to Bolivia, then to La Paz and the "worlds most dangerous road" before turning around south through Chile to Antofagasta.

We have recieved offers from both Ride-Chile.com and Rideadv.com (RIDE Adventures). However after doing some research on the companies we have found very little reviews on both companies. I hope someone in this forum can shed some light on which one to pick from a quality and service perspective.

Hello, I've just closed a deal with Mick from Ride-Chile.com for a ten day rental of two KLRs to cross the Sico and Agua Negra passes. He's been very helpful and seems to be glad to accomodate all our needs. Our trip will end in early December. I'll post a feedback here as soon as I return.

ride-chile.com

I have rented from ride-chile.com last year. Mick and Tomas are great, honest, and easy to get along with.
This was my first time in Chile-Argentina, and they helped us plan a route and choose roads, made our trip a lot better.
We had 3 KLRs, they were in perfect condition.

Don't trust ride-chile.com

Mike and Tomas from ride-chile.com are indeed very nice people, until you see unauthorized debit on your credit card after returning the bikes... That's what happened to me. They debited USD 1,400 from my credit card one month after I left Chile, with no prior notice. I was unable to get proper explanation, invoice or anything from them after this...

Be very careful if you rent anything from these guys.

But on the other hand, they are IMO very honest and reliable people.

As a lot of people here have probably already used them, and they have a good reputation, making slanderous allegations in a public forum is not wise.

You say you could not get a proper explanation.
What explanation did you receive ?
Did you take it up with your CC company? As they carry the most weight in in these circumstances.

The only reason they would have to do anything like take extra funds is if the bike was damaged in any way (as per hire agreement).

Dear Ctech83, I notice your thread asking advice on RideAdv company.
You certainly had your trip done as the thead is quite old, but a advice can help other.
We used RideAdv or RideAdventures company: Well....I would definitively avoid those guys.
Be really really carefull if you want to deal with this company....
