Shipping my bike from Miami to Quito

Hello Albert,

I am planning a similar trip like that of BWOB to do volunteer work in South America. I have some family in Quito, however, they do not have any experience with shipping and customs from the US. I found some companies in Miami that will ship the bike. Do you have any recommendations? I plan to take off in the fall. Thank you!

Victor

Hmm

The only way to bring a bike into Ecuador is a temporary import and that will allow the bike to be here for six months only!!! As far as transport companies I know a lot of people have experience with GIRAG who ship from Panama as for Miami I have no idea there, maybe Girag have an office.
Best of luck!

Question

Albert, I met you at the Turtle when I was passing through to the south. you gave me a great recommendation on getting a tire (Thank you a bunch). Anyway, how is things in southern Peru. Is it very dangerous? Have you heard about any rebels? I hope to come back in a couple of years.

albert crutcher 20 Jun 2008 05:43

Colombia

Things just keep getting better rebel wise cos I,m now moving to Colombia with the mining thing, but still keeping the bars in Ecuador for the time being and I,m still enjoying the company of good folks like yourself as they pass through.
Next time take the slow road Bo and give yourself time to Smell those proverbial Roses
Cheers
