Quito - 1-month motorcycle storage
Hello,
I'm currently in Ecuador and I'm considering flying back to Europe for 1 month. I have a few things to address there and I had a lot of rain lately - so maybe it's the right time to have a break and come back in a month time at the end of the rain season. Getting to the point: Is there a known place where I could store my DR 650 for a 1-month period? (My TVIP is valid until May, so no problem here). Thanks for any input! Nick |
There is one place mentioned on iOverlander that can store bikes for some period of time in Quito. Its called «Freedom Bike Rental» and it get good reviews too. For details look on iOverlander.

You might try hostal Zentrum. I stored my bike there for a week while going to Galapagos. I paid a few dollars per day.

We used this place. Paid 2 dollars a day for a big truck camper. Cheap camping there with showers and toilet, free airport transfers, price negotiable for longer stays.
Airport Parking "San Jose" -0.18765, -78.34204 Category: Established Campground Closer parking than the VIP one down the street which has upped his prices to US$10 per night. No reduction even for two full weeks. GREEDY!.. US$5 per night at SanJose. Nice people. Immaculate bathroom on the premises. Free shuttle to and from the airport WiFi now available. Room for two or three BIG rigs and plenty of room for smaller vehicles Restaurant nearby Nice atmosphere NOTE this is a parking area close to the airport and ideal for trips to Galapagos so not really an established campground - BUT has all the facilities you would need so I'll leave the site classification as it is. PS They have their own small soccer field right next to the parking area and there would be plenty of space behind the goals for those needing to pitch a tent. Owner is willing to negotiate a much reduced price for leaving vehicles there for several months. They have three small dogs on the premises which fight amongst themselves, so having your own dog might be a problem. Suggest maximum length of bigrig to be not much over 8 metres. No height restrictions unless you have to park down the back NOTE - ignore check-in May 6th, 2016 by vbernaud Iconpopout and the bottom three photos - was for a different place |
PS take your TVIP with you - or a good copy - to use as proof of onward travel otherwise checkin in Europe may force you to buan outwards ticket

Thanks a lot everyone!
I already got in touch with Freedom Bike Rental as suggested by Snakeboy here above and they can store the bike for USD 50 a month. So I'm flying back to Europe next week, after being 7 months on the road. Happy to go but sad to leave - anyone understands that??? Anyway in 4 weeks I'll be hitting the roads again, hope it's going to be a tad dryer. (Snakeboy, I also looked at your itinerary in Peru you posted in another thread. Looks mouth-watering... Thanks for posting that also!) Nick |
Hi ,Nick we met in a Café in Pasto and we talked for a longtime . I flew home Last June for 5 months and I came back refreshed and with renewed curiosity. Happy trails ; I’m in Colombia

Hi Fried! Nice to see you here and sorry for the late reply, I was away for a while ;)
So I've been back in Ecuador for a month and have been chillling out at the coast. Now back on the road, chilling time is over ;) Just wanted to report that all went fine: Freedom Bike Rental kept my bike for a month time (paid USD 50) and I was asked no question at the airport leaving or coming back. Cudos to Freedom Bike Rental for charging my battery! Very cool people! |
