Proof on onward travel need for Argentina?

Hi all,

Tried searching but couldn't find anything regarding it so I assume you do not but wanted to double check with people who've recently gone in to be on the safe side - as I know you do sometimes need this for certain countries... I am UK citizen using a British passport.

Cheers!

The main problem is usually with the airline you fly with as they often stick to the rules to avoid having to pay your return trip if the country decides to start enforcing its own laws.

When we checked in at Rome for the flight to Buenos Aries, they wanted written confirmation that we had outward flights booked - and they were doing the same with other passengers.
Qantas is particularly strict regardless of where you are flying to.

Of course a few minutes with a computer and you could produce your own provided you researched flight numbers and other required info, but then you still might have problems at BA. We arrived at 5am and there was nobody checking anything (Luckily as I had a suitcase full of stuff) but that could also change later in the morning

Having been in and out of Argentina a number of times over the past 3 years, I have never had to show any evidence of onward travel, but that's an Aussie passport.

When crossing a land border, you are on the motorbike and that gives them a clue to what you are doing.

When shipping a bike, you have the paper work to show them what you are doing.

When buying a bike, you stand there and say "Do you think I would be carrying this helmet, and wearing all this bike gear if I was just going to hang around ? "

Politely... of course :-)

re onward travel from Arg

That's spot on.

I flew from UK to BA via Madrid in Dec. Boarding in Madrid the lady at check-in asked for an onward ticket. I said I was importing a motorbike and reached for the WAYBILL document, but she got on with checking me in without seeing it.

And here I am.

Bon voyage!

We flew to BA year past November from uk via Germany, one way ticket no issues. However flying the bikes from Bogota to Panama we had the problem, waybill & docs from our shipper cleared the way after a comedy argument

Proof on onward travel need for Argentina?

Hi all,

Just to update this. In check-in Dubai they wanted to see my temporary residency visa for chile and asked me about my trip, and I just said that I was passing through to Chile by coach. At BA they just stamped me in no questions asked but a Japanese backpacker was getting a real grilling by a po-faced immigration officer!!!

Saludos
