Peru to Equador - best border by car

I am planning my route from Peru to Equador and am trying to decide which crossing to take. I like the idea of Huaquillas but have read nothing but trouble about it so would appreciate some feedback from others who have done the crossing in a car/van

Im mostly interested in speed and cost of crossing

cheers

Just came across from san ignacious/ zumba border. (Cant remember actual name on peru side) Road wasnt that easy going either side but border crossing a breeze.. aduana in ecuador was friendly if a tad drunk.. take photo copies of everything incl passport.
If u head toward vilcabamba, another dirt road n some pista toward end, stay at rumi wilcos. Cool argie called Orlando runs it. I parked up and slept in the van for 3.50$

Aahhh, that's why he wasn't there until 6pm the other day, (aduanas Ecuador)waited from midday for him, finally pitched the tent in the vacant house near the boom gate. Then the rain hammered down. I wouldn't exactly call the road to Loja a breeze. Quite demanding after a lot of rain.
