Paso del San Francisco in JULY??

Hi

The chance appeared to do a trip to Chile...

The most difficult part is already done: time and money... hehehehe

However, there is a "small" question: the only possible date this year is JULY!

Our planning would be to cross the Paso del San Francisco, to spend the night in the shelter / termas of the Laguna Verde. :rolleyes2:

1) the first question is: the Paso del San Francisco will be open in July?
Off course, it depends on the climatic conditions, but I can't get a forecast for this winter in Chile... :blushing:

If 1 is yes... So:

2) What temperatures we must expect during the day and the night?
Although Brazilian, we live on the southest state and we have a certain experience riding
in temperatures like zero degrees... And off course we don't expect to much confort. :bored:

The last question is:

3) Is it possible to have fun in these conditions, or will be THE HELL? :censored:

Any tip or information will be of great value... :helpsmilie:

By the way... The bikes will be the old faithful XT600... :thumbup1:

regards

Open?

I went over the pass once in late November and ran into some still exisiting snow banks and frozen ruts. I suspect July might be a challenge.

I crossed a pass about 400 miles fom Mendoza once in Dec and ran into snow squall and hail although the road was not frozen. Persons at foot hills can give you decent advise about conditions....or wait for someone to come from the other way and ask???.
