Parts from the Us to Chile
Hi, there has anyone shipped parts from the USA to Chile , how, custom , experiences.i have to order a cylinder head for 500 dollars and it would be by ups for another 350 dollars. The website said, to puente arenas in 3 to 5 days, that seems awfully fast. I also would need to bring it across the border to rio Gallegos, where I broke down. Any help appreciated frieder "Fred"

i've shipped parts to a bunch of folks in central and south america over the past years and if i learned one thing, it's that the big shipping companies are a ripoff. search for a chile courier service in the US. they usually are a small fraction and they do all the customs work for you.

I didn't do it myself, but from punta arenas, they ship parts over miami pretty fast and cheap. Salva from la guardia did this for me

You have to remember that the Aduana customs will want a 20% or there about for charges.
I had a USA made part sent to Chile and it was fast but then stayed with the customs, and then at the post office i had to pay $50US for an item costing $199 +post. Maybe your shipper has covered this tax but be aware, but if you need it badly you pay. Fingers crossed. |
