Paraguay Trans-Chaco
 

Just got back from trying to enter Bolivia from Paraguay via the Trans-Chaco(Ruta 9). Unless things have really changed in a week, don´t even think about it. Got stuck 4 days at military control post because road was impassable.

2 days later entered Bolivia by taking the Picada 500 from Mariscal Est.,and after 150 miles of passable dirt and mud road entered Bolivia after the Infante Rivarola checkpoint. Road knowledge in artea is terrible, but ask the bus drivers on the Santa Cruz--Asuncion run. Take the same route they do. Suerte!!--PW

what a crazy idea to cross the Chaco in rainy season....
We tried it as well - foolish like you - 2nd of january from Bolivia to Paraguay and after a while I stopped counting the water pools.

We asked x times where to receive the exit stamp - untill we reached the Paraguayos -- no stamp! We slept the night at the Bolivian military and drove back thru all these mudholes. In Santa Cruz the Africa Twin got a total checkover and we as well.

i tried to cross this desert as well, but from the other side. chaco is hell!! it's only for very experienced riders.
