moto clubs in Santaigo
 

Hi
does anybody have any information about moto clubs in Santiago, Chile, I'm looking to buy two big trail bikes NX650 Dominator etc, and was hoping to contact a couple of clubs for info on best places to get the bikes, or contacts with private sellers that might not be in the papers or online, thanks in advance

We just got back from Chile/Argentina. We bought an Africa Twin in Santiago Chile. I didn't contact bike clubs but I've posted some info on the HUB. Check out Vincent Danna's post I gave him alot of info that you MUST have to buy a bike. let me know if any of it is unclear I'm more than happy to share any info...

Also, ( i just thought) big bikes are not too common there. at the time we were looking we spent two days and only found an Africa Twin and a KLR650! both were dearer than here in the uk! However, once you bite the bullet and go ahead it's very do-able.

Thanks for the info, we have just looked at two bikes outside of Santiago, a Yamaha xt600 and a Kawasaki klr650 both seem to be in pretty good shape. It looks like both bikes would be suitable, although the tank on the xt is a bit small, has anyone got any thoughts on which of these bikes is better suited for a long trip {8months} and most reliable, easy to fix?

And when the Twin brakes down
I'd go with the XT600. There lot's of cheap spareparts available. Especialy in Brazil. Make sure that the back monoshock is in good condition. A good monoshock is hard to find, the standard one is not build for taking a lot off cargo like panniers etc.

I just completed my second SA trip on a XT600 Z tenere 1990. 75.000 km More than half off-road. No problems with the bike.

As is many cities in South America the motorcycle shops are situated around a couple off streats. Looked through our travellog but can't find the streatname.
