A sad story. I hope there is some good news to come.

Fritz 6 Mar 2006 05:13

Are they on a bike ? We are in Bolivia, La PAz, and on to Cobacabana, spoting a bike might be easier if they're bikers ? Will keep our eyes open anyway.

Cinquegrana 6 Mar 2006 21:41

I'm sure someone has contacted the local police. Do they know which banks were used to withdraw the money? Where they ATM withdrawals? If they were maybe the have the security tapes to see if the couple was alone or with someone else. If they withdrawals were directly from a teller maybe the teller remembers an austrian couple and could tell you/us if they were alone or not.

I'll pass this along to a Land Rover BBS in South America and see if they can help in any way. I'll ask them to pass it along to other groups in that area.

I'm sure I speak for everyone on this board when I say if we can help in anyway please let us know.

Good luck and hope everything works out ok. Keep us posted and folks lets keep this msg alive by bumping it up to the top.

Yes, the withdrawals were via ATM, and it is said that there are photos from the CCTV on these machines - of unknown person(s).

Just to say people over here are aware of the case, was widly publised, all locals we spoke to knew about it. Lets hope.

yuma simon 12 Mar 2006 13:19

I don't know how effective they would be in this part of the world, but a private detective might help your situation. It all depends on how much money they charge. I personally would not depend on any SA police agency for something this serious, even if the President of Bolivia is involved. Look into it if you have the means.

Sad to report they were found in a shallow grave according to a local newspaper Saturday March 11. (London). No other details. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif

Hi Grant,
this was apparently a false information. The two people found are already dead for some 1,5 years. So there's still hope!!
