Are helmets required in Mexico?
I am looking for biker friendly hotels in Puebla, Morelia, and San Miguel Allende. Thanks in advance... Sparerib

Mexico does have a helmet law. You'll find that this is just about the only law they do enforce. You should have no problem find a biker friendly hotel in any of the cities mentioned or the whole country for that matter. You will be welcomed everywhere, the mexicans love motorcycles.

By the way, when are you going? i'll be headed that way in a few days.

We are leaving Laredo on Monday April 21 and heading down through Tampico. Do you know the condition of Mexico Hiway 180 South of Tampico toward Poza Rica? The last time I went through there it was terrible (in 1997). Hope its better by now.

The road should be fine to Tampico. Two lane no shoulders.
Im a little ahead of you. I left the 4th and am currently in San Miguel. Heading to Veracruz tomorrow then Palenque. Belize and Guatemala are also on the agenda before I head back up the west coast at the end of the month.
