Metzlers in Mexico

Am I going to need to pre-order tires in mexico city fior when I get there? My tires will be pretty shagged by then (They've go maybe 2-3k left on them.)

KLR 650, 17" rear is likely to be the problem. I'm gonna be after 50/50 on/off road tyres like the dunlops or the metzlers.

Ian -

If you are riding down to Central America, there is a bunch of info on 17" tire availability at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000159.html

Motorcycle tire availability is poor throughout Mexico, but I do not know specifically about 17" availability in Mexico City.

I did want to comment that I do not recommend the Metzler Sahara rear tire on the KLR 650. I rode the Saharas on my KLR 650 down through Mexico and the rear ran burning hot - you could not touch it for a split second. Total rider/luggage weight was no more than 220 lbs. When I had the tired changed in Guatemala City, it was welded to the rim and took a handful of mechanics with truck tire irons to pry it off. I was amazed when they only charged me $1.80 U.S. for the job.
