Maps for Colombia
 

Hi,
Just a bit of info regarding maps for Colombia.
We got to Pasto after crossing into Colombia from Ecuador and thought we would easily get a road map here.
Hours of trapsing around the town asking in bookshops and papelerria's proved to be a worthless task although one of them pointed out that we could buy the "GUIA RUTAS" from the toll booths at most Peajes. Not having to pay 'cos we are on the bike we didn't notice this at the ones we passed through :oops2:
We have seen a copy of the Guia Rutas and it is quite large, it apparently costs about COP 15000.

The owner of the hostal we are staying at here in Pasto pointed us in the direction of the "Instito Geografico Agustin Codazzi" on Calle 18 / Cra 21. We would never have thought of looking here as it looks like a Government building but it has good maps of Colombia. We bought the "Mapas de Ruta" which cost COP 14000 and splits the country into 11 sections with quite a lot of detail and not too big to carry, they also sell individual sections of the book. We also bought a small wall map of Colombia with most roads on for COP 8000, good for an overall picture.
