Manaus - Belem; Amazon on the Boat
 

Just finished the boat ride from Manaus to Belem.
Fished around the port in Manaus to get the best deal. Shipping boats are not an option. The port is tightly controlled and they don't take to gringoes wandering around looking for good deals. Have to use the civilian boats - of which there are many.
Was quoted 700 Rs for my bike from Amazon Star company for a spot on the boat of the same name, and 600 Rs for a private cabin. :nono: I'm not doing this trip for private cabins, so opted out.
Got my bike on a better flat-hulled boat, the Rondondio, by going directly to the port the day the boat arrived. Got the guy down to 250 Rs!!! (I'm on a Buell Ulysses. He say the beast and had no problems) 150 Rs for a spot above with a hammock. All good. bier
5 Rs a meal and had a fantastic 4 days to Belem. Highly recommended.
