Looking to rent bikes in Colombia

Hi everyone,
For this year's trip, I am working on a plan to ride a self-guided route in Colombia with up to 5 of my friends. We're totally open to where we start and return to, but we are seeing good flight prices to Cartagena.
So far, using Google, here are the vendors and bikes that I have found:
I owned one of those Pulsars for a time, and it was a good enough bike, but it can't handle dirt or mud, so I'd prefer a Yamaha or Kawasaki. That said, the prices are pretty steep.

My questions:
  • Are these just the going rates for these bikes?
  • Does anyone have any leads on lower pricing?
  • Any other thoughts or recommendations to get us going?
Thanks!

South America is 110cc terretory. Renting bigger bikes is a huge waste of money. I payed 400 for a whole year: http://motorradtouren-suedamerika.de...ador-columbien

I'm in exactly the same boat as you and looking into Colombian rentals.

I have a 2-3 month window and torn between Colombia and Thailand/SE Asia. The bike rental culture in Asia is so convenient, but I'd love to rind an affordable option in Colombia.

400 a year!? Anymore details?

Having ridden extensively in SEA, I can attest to its affordability! One time I wound up just buying a bike in Vietnam and selling it back to the same guy for like $150 less a month or so later. I rented in Indonesia last year for something like $15/day for 3 weeks.

True - but there's also overhead for searching for a bike, paperwork, and then selling at the end of the journey. From reading the OP's post, I can't tell whether he wants a bike for a week, a month, or a year.

If someone wants to jet in, pick up a bike, and just get riding, it doesn't make sense to buy a bike unless you've got lots of time to burn.

When I sit down and do the math, rentals tend to work out to be cheaper than a small bike unless you're on the road for at least a month.

Yeah me too, have rented bikes in Thailand and the Philippines.
India is my favourite place to rent a bike, haha. They didn't even ask for an ID to take an Enfield for 3 weeks (at £5 a day).

To be honest, I'm totally torn between Colombia (and Equador) or Thailand (and Laos)...

Here's a new thread about a couple that bought used motorcycles in Colombia recently.

Here is a link to Casa Blanca Hostal in Cali, Colombia. It was started by a Denmark adventure rider named Mikkel who did a motorcycle trip a few years ago and met his wife in Cali and stayed. He rents dualsport motorcycles.
