In Lima Peru chilling out. Anyone in the area crossing into Chile anytime soon ?

Title says is all. Due to unrest in Chile I’m looking for someone to partner up with for the crossing. Currently in an apartment in Lima. Heading to Cusco area soon for a week or more. Timeline is flexible. Email me at pokenaut@aol.com

Chile

I'm in Chile now (Concepcion) Things are starting to calm down already in Santiago and more so in the south.

I wouldn't worry too much if you are travelling in a week or so.

Of course, keep abreast of developments, you never know where things could go.

I’ve got a nice room in Lima for another couple weeks.
Heading South after that!

I’m staying in Lima until the 13th then it’s off for a week in the Sacred Valley.
Then, South to Puno and then crossing into Chile.
Still looking for someone to cross with.

Im now in Huanta Peru, taking back roads into Santa Teresa and then will visit Machu Picchu.
Then towards Puno and then the Chile border.
Still looking for someone to cross into Chile with. Not essential but optimal

Hey mate, I'm in Mendoza at the moment so can't help you with company. But I crossed from Peru to Chile 3/4 weeks ago. My advice would be get up early, cross into Chile, ride as far as you can, I made the mistake of going into Iquique for the night and wouldn't recommend it. Maybe camp for the night or find a hostel en route on iO.

Next day get to San Pedro de Atacama (where I also had to wait 8 hours for protests to ease up to be let in btw). Stay the night in San Pedro, next day Argentina. North of Chile I've done twice. It's boring as hell, everything north of La Serena. Argentina is lovely, much cheaper, great food, good riding. Forget Chile until it's all over. Only the south is worth a visit anyway.

Just to keep this post current, I’m leaving Cusco tomorrow for Puno. I’ll be there two days. Then on to the Chile border.
