Billkids offer sounds ideal to me! IF the shock is loaded in with a bunch of other spares and camping gear etc it's "part of the vehicle spares" and should be no issue.

I'd get on it quick!

Too late now. Bike has gone. Good luck with the parts.

Posted up a bit earlier about a wilbers shock. Ended up buying it. Hopefully I'll have it next week.

For local bikes you get all the spare parts around the corner if needet. May be buying a local bike and shiping the broken BMW home is the best and fastest solution to continue your trip just as they did at "long way round"...

Yeah buying a local works in some situations not others. It's less good when travelling two up with camping gear, and when you're flying/starting in a country where you can't buy a local bike ;)

Travelling solo with plenty of time then it's probably the best bet. Just need to know what you might be getting and put together a suitable toolkit and spares for it. Especially when travelling to remote areas.

Loads of Chinese bikes around here, some even look pretty good, but I wouldn't take one places I've been deep into the Atacama, or Altiplano. Now the Honda's 150s on the other hand could be decent buy.

Thanks. I did note the offer at the time. Good luck with shipping. It was a breeze in Argentina.
