Hello, I have a question...

Is it necessary Carnet de Passages in the countries of Southern America?
If yes that in which?

markharf 19 Mar 2010 13:53

No. This question is answered, more than once, in older threads.

best,

Mark

Hello, and welcome to the HUBB. Like Mark said, you do not need a carnet for all of Latin America. This can be confusing as many places that sell carnets state that you need one, but this is not true. They just want you to buy one. By using the search function you can find many posts on this subject, it's been beaten to death really :rolleyes2:
Safe travels!

It has where? LOL JK

You do not need one in any of the Americas North or South.

indiza 20 Mar 2010 20:37

Thanks, I search any info about Carnet at Americas, but may be today old information is not actually!

I have a moto and car in Nigeria today, they park in Abuja. I both this moto in Germany and I have only red transit numberplate (two years old ).
My car with russian numberplates.

Now I will like ship my car and moto to Argentina from Senegal or Benin, and after will go to USA by weast coast. What you think about moto with transit european numbers and no registrations? :oops2:

PS: I dont have problem with my moto in North Africa (Tunis, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria)

Thanks.

I would think that you would have problems without the registration. You do not have anything to show that you bought the motor, or a paper saying that you own the motor? You would need something....

markharf 20 Mar 2010 23:31

You need a registration document proving that you own the vehicle. It needs to match the vehicle license plate (tabs), VIN number, the information on your passport, etc. If feeling particularly brave, you might consider Photoshop.....but there are a lot of borders, therefore a lot of aduanas staffed by a lot of hungry men and women in uniform, between Argentina and the USA.

I have a numberplate and brif (paper), where I is owner! :scooter:

With all info about moto.

I think this problem only with countries likes Carnet, because Carnet produced only by registred moto, I think. :D Or may be USA, because they have rules like EU.

manzini 22 Mar 2010 02:42

no problem
