grrr

I´ve got problems today. A screw up with honduran customs and my bike will be impounded if I don´t leave the country tommorow or fly to the capital in the next 2 hours to try to get the director of the customs to sign a piece of paper... if he´s there. Just trying to decide what to do now. Plane leaves at 2 if I want to be on it. If I fly to Tegusigualpa and it fails, it is totally messed up because there is no way to get back to the bike and out of the country tommorow. Leaving the country is a miserable option too. Coming back through customs really sucks. Costs a fortune and takes forever.

Don´t believe what customs guys tell you.

It´s bollocks

Some things never change...

In 1987 we had exactly the same thing happen to us. We left the country - no way were we going to screw around with maybe getting it ok, or if it failed - and you can bet it would a. fail or b. cost a bundle - getting completely screwed.

Leave while the leaving is good, and be happy you screwed them out of some money.

Or ask: "is there a fee I can pay to solve the problem here and now?"

Good luck, keep us posted.

Word on the street is that the border crossing at Copan is the cheapest and easiest, less bent. I wouldn't know - I entered from El Salvador and got fleeced like a sheep. Baa.

They tried the same with me. Its just a way to screw a bribe out of you. I would agree with Grant that the best thing would be to ask how much to solve the problem there and then, just pay them and get out of the place as soon as you can

Currently in Guatemala... Copan Ruinas border crossing a complete dream.. through in about an hour total (admitedly honduras to guatemala). Not a hint of a "few beers" asked for. Thanks for the pointer. I didn´t get fleeced when coming in from El Salvador.. managed to avoid that. Unfortunately, it did take 14 hours.........

As for my email, our server crashed 2 days ago, the standing backup got the same virus and crashed immediately afterwards wiping everything out... #3 should be online in the next couple of hours. Slight delay due to the 100 or so domains hosted on these two machines...
