Great Guide on Paved and Unpaved Portions of Carretera Austral
 

Hey all,

Met an Austrian bicyclist today who took absolutely meticulous notes on his log for the carretera austral. I saw the images and i knew these would be useful for the HUBB, so i'm uploading them for everyone to make use of. To use the notes, look on the map and note the distance between your two desired stops on the Carretera austral. The KMs marked on the map represent the distance between the town marked on the map and the town directly north of it

Then you look at the log and see how the KMs match up (Gesart?). Look to the right and you can see see how much of it is Asphalt, and how much of it is gravel (Schotter?). Sorry, not a German native speaker so i can't really be sure if i spelled those correctly. HM represents altitude if you're interested in that sort of thing. Also, if you're into bicycling, the fella recorded how long it took him by bicycle. Pretty fantastic information, i'd say.

Very useful. The website Ruta0.com is useful for roads in Argentina. Shows paved and unsaved. Not sure how accurate it is.
