good tyres for a KLR650 in mexico?

I'm looking for a good/not to expensive tyre to put on my klr before heading to mexico.

I did the usa on the dunlop stock ones and they arent to great for off pavement, wear out fast

Probably will take a few days out in san diego to mod the bike some more,

Thanks!

Good (not great) and cheap = Kenda K270. I've got a TKC on the front and a K270 on the back--the Continentals wear out too quickly to use on the rear, and they're not cheap, the TKC gives somewhat better wet traction. The Kendas have tall knobs, and they squirm around disconcertingly when the tire is new and you lean the bike. Don't worry: you'll adjust unless you're quite picky.

There are better off-road tires, and better on-road tires, but these are the ones I chose as compromises for Mexico.

Lots of posts and lots of opinions about tires on all motorcycling forums.
