From Oiapoque to Cayenne
 

You could take a chance and put your bike on one of the piroques crossing the river. But I decided to take the vehicle ferry, 40 Euros, but safer.
On Monday morning customs signed me out of Brazil with a computer generated document. On the other side in St. George de l'Oiapoque; French Guyane; the police signed me in; Customs looked me over and wanted to know if I had an international insurance, which of course I do by virtue of my Cnanadian insurance which is also good in the US, but nowhere else.I showed them my pink slip of Allstate. But he didn't need to know this. So I was let go. Note: gas up at the pump immediately when you come off the ferry. It's the only one until Cayenne; some 200km away.
The road? What a surprise. It is finished. Beautifully constructed; brand new asphalt all the way, twisties; great scenery, a masterpiece. My compliments to the French Army engineers. Great job. Ride to Cayenne, less then 3 hours.
Money: When coming from Brazil, there is an ATM at the post office of St. George which accepts the usual debit cards. When going into Brazil; the boys at the dock will exchange your leftover euros. No dollars; no other exchange facility in town.
