Does this road in Suriname really exist?

Does the "jeep trail" between South Drain (Zuiddrain) and Apoera in western Suriname really exist?

There are a map on a wiki article here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East-West_Link_(Suriname) ) and it says "There is a jeep trail between South Drain and Apoera, connecting the Northern East-West Link with the Southern East-West Link. Contrary to earlier plans, the pavement of this road is not imminent" The road I´m talking about is the grey one that connects the orange and the green road.

But.

I can´t find it on Google maps
I can´t find it on Maps.Me
I don´t find any pictures of it
I dont´t find any blogs or someone who been traveling along the road

I see something on Google Earth though, which seems to be the Korantijnkanaal (Canal). I wonder if there are a muddy track along the Canal somewhere? A Construction track of some kind?

Or... would it be possible to take a river taxi or something from Apoera till South Drain? I don´t want to backtrack, I travel by bicycle and I want to see something more than the coastal road in Suriname.

Ideas? Thanks.

Link 5 in the wiki you provided says, in part (google translation from German)
Captain Carlo Lewis Apoera said in response to the decision of the Government that there is exclusion. "Therefore, it is necessary to involve local communities in decision-making," said Lewis, who thereby indicating that the indigenous people have not been consulted in making the decision about wegasfaltering. According to him, the villagers looked quite looking forward to this project because the road from Zanderij to Apoera, where they make use is still fairly passable but totally impassable in the rainy season. Residents of West Suriname reach the city than by paying a small fee to citizens who have their own vehicle and also leave for Paramaribo. Another possibility to fly once a month with BHP-Billiton from Apoera has now come to fall away, with the cessation of operations by the multinational.

So it looks like the road did exist .. but is impassable in wet weather and the locals want it sealed so they can use it in wet weather. This was in 2008. The locals should know.

Thanks Warin! I forgot I could use the wiki sources like that! :-)

"the road from Zanderij to Apoera (...) " - that´s the wrong road though, it´s about the southern mainroad, the road between Apoera and Paramaribo. Zanderij lies on that road. But I found something of a clue on the same page, number five, so thank you!

But... still not sure if there are a track or not, but a guidebook author just wrote "...and concluded that it (the track) most likely doesn't exist. Or that it used to but does no longer."

But I will try to contact some of the tour guides in Suriname, they should know. And it seems that there are a boat twice a week between Apoera and South Drain. If I can´t find the track I just take a boat downstream.

No other travellers who have actually been in the area?
