Crossing the Darian by Ferry
 

The long awaited mystery has been solved. There is a ferry, we have seen it and purchased tickets and will board tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb 18, 2015) for the 18 hour trip from Colon to Cartagena. Cost is $100/person and $180 for the bike. A police inspection (verify Vin # with engine or frame number, which the police inspecting my 2013 F800GS could not find anything but the Vin # on the steering head, which I showed them) is required prior to exit docs from the Aduana. Insurance is required before they will let the bike off the boat in Columbia, we are told they sell insurance on board. This will start the second half of our trip from Portland, my final leg from Dead Horse to Terra Del Fuago. Road travel has been good, no hassles with bad guys, police or military. Always a little stressful not knowing where we are staying each night and driving thru bad city traffic right at the evening commute hour. Will be good to spend more time up in the mountains traveling south. Marco and Zen riding two up.
