Colombia Roads Papayan -> Neiva -> Bogota

Hello everyone

I am planning a route from Quito to Bogota. Does anyone know what the best road(s) to take are to go through Neiva? Or what is the fastest route? Through Cali and Ibague?

My initial plan was to ride through Nueva Loja and the cross into Colombia via San Miguel but I cannot find any updated information on the border crossing or roads from there. Google maps says that that is the fastest route however....... does anyone have any input on this?

I would love to skirt into the Amazon basin a little bit and had in mind to check out the little desert of Tatacoa just north of Neiva but don't want to deal with any complications, FARC, or more endless crappy roads (had enough of that already).

Peace!

We cam south from Bogota as far as Mocoa where we camped in the sportsground and then headed west back to the main highway.

That west heading section was very slow - narrow gravel road through mountains and jungle - and these clips will give you an idea

FARC left us alone

We went through Cali and Ibague. The roads were all good, except there was a lot of truck traffic between Armenia and Ibague. It wasn't a big deal with a big bike , but it would have been a pain with anything that can't pass quickly in a short space.

Hi every one!

I realy love this part of Colombia! Been there already three times..
First the "laguna de coche" is amazing then the crazy road with a lot of rivers is just beautiful ( not recomended when its raining a lot!
In mocoa its the place called "fin del mundo" realy nice!
Then finaly up to san Agustín!! Great part of Colombia!
Enjoy and drive relaxed! All this part got some crazy closing curves and also crazy car drivers..
