Updated information on the road from San Augustine to Popayan

Does any one have up dated information on the road conditions. I have heard it is partially paved? Planning on traveling first part of September.....

Passed in June, about 50k unpaved from memory rough/slow going good ride on a bike though. Be carefull as rd is narrow in places and there is the occasional big freight truck.

Coming from Popoyan, you're looking at 3ish kms of harsh gravel/rock road, then nice new concrete for maybe 10-15kms, then the 40kms of slow potholed surface (with a couple tiny sealed stretches just to tease you), then more nice concrete where the military checkpoint is, then a few more kms rough, before arriving into Isnos area it gets good again.

Bitumen from Popayan starts here again. That was a long 50km of dirt road.

The total length of gravel is 40 km with several intermittent stretches of asphalt, of which two are each about 15 km. Most of the gravel bits are littered with potholes and we often weren't even able to average 15 km/h with our 4x4. So 4.5 to 5 hours is more likely it at the moment. There's an army checkpoint approx. 20 km before Isnos. They checked the back of our truck (curiosity?) but didn't want to see any papers.

Anyone, from Popayan to San Agustin

Hi!
I'm heading north from Ecuadorian Border to Popayan.
Any suggestions where to stay in the "white city"?
Wensday i'll be taking the road to San Agustin.
And probably later finish the loop in Pasto.
If I find someone that will like to share, i'll be checking this post.
Who knows if someone will like to continue down to Ecuador from Mocoa to Nueva Loja.
As I have read, road conditions are good, but it we helpful updates.
