Colombia Motorcycle Rental
 

Hi all.
I'm looking into renting a motorcycle somewhere in Colombia for 10 days in early February. I'm flexible when it comes to location and I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations of rental outfits.


I'm not interested in large expensive bikes but focusing more on the smaller lightweight ones.


I've contacted Moto Rent Santa Marta, Moto Rent Medellin, Jet Motorcycle Rental in Medellin and Adrenaline Addicts in Santa Marta. None of them have responded. Bogota has a few outfits as well but they seem to focus on the larger so called "ADV" bikes.



Does anyone know if the above are still in business?
Any other places I can try?
Also, does anyone know the seat height of the AKT TTR 125, 200, 250 Adventour?

Nine years ago, the owners of Motolombia were personable and accessible, and I used to tell people to contact them with all sorts of requests. They've definitely hit the big time since then, and I'm not sure how responsive they are these days, but I'd still contact them and ask. If you can get thru to him, Miguel should have some ideas and reasonably trustworthy suggestions.

Thanks for the tip Mark. Mike got back to me within 10 minutes of me sending him an email. The bikes are a bit "overkill" for the trip but I'm considering it anyway. They even allow one way rentals (extra USD250 from Cali to Cartagena).

Damn, some service! If it were me I’d ask him about smaller, cheaper bikes. Surely there’s someone, somewhere in Cali.....

FWIW, I was perfectly happy to be riding a 650 while passing lines of soot-belching trucks in the Colombian mountains. It would have been possible on a smaller bike, but would have demanded more judgement and restraint, which seemed to be in short supply at the time.

Back in the old days, Mike used to photograph every rider who stayed at his hostel. Mine is probably still floating around out there in the ether, labeled ~October, 2009. They’d just opened, and were working out a few of the kinks. Really nice people, and a tremendous support to lots of riders.

An acquaintance of mine got a short-term rental from https://www.odysseycolombia.com/, and was very happy with them. Small stylish bikes, good for a few days' getaway, not for overlanding, but seemed like a great holiday option.

Hands down the best way to go in Medellin....contact this dude Jeff and go ride Colombia...www.colombiamotoadventures.com. I did and could not believe the value.
