Colombia or Ecuador-wish ship motos to/from usa to CO or Ecuador

USA couple wish to ship 2 cycles from USA to either CO or Quito Ecuador and return ship to USA. we will be on 3 month tourist visas to each country.

Is this possible and what is the process/document called?

The consulates were of little help-just said NO or roadblocks. Is air ship a lot easier? comments and contact info needed please.

Container or ocean shippers have not helpful--do you have any good contacts or comments for these. flexible dates and destinations each country.

Thanks Roger

You should seriously think of including Peru. The ride from lima to cuzco is something else.

You need to find a broker. They'll probably be in a major city in your state. Just google air cargo (city name) and see what comes up. You should search hard for quotes. Check out the shipment section of HU; it's really helpful. Consider putting your bikes in a crate to save money.

Anyways, the broker will figure everything out about getting your bikes to the city you want. Getting them from the warehouse onto the road is another story. You need to get a permit for each bike. In my experience I was able to do this at the border, but when working with one of these warehouses, that process will change a bit. Could take a couple days to see your bikes even after you arrive. Watch out for "helpers." They are useful in that things happen faster with them around, but you can't trust them not to invent a fee or two.

If you're in southern US, prob easiest to ship from Houston, or Galveston, to Cartagena, CO, especially if you're flexible with dates. Pretty common route.

You could try these guys, www.samericaxplorer.net, very helpful people, they should be able to organize end to end.
