Coca/Ecuador to Iquitos by boat?

Probably possible - I looked into it. Met three cyclists who did it with their bikes. They said some of the boats were very narrow. Honestly with a motorcycle it sounded more trouble than it's worth. If you want to get to Brazil better to go from Peru directly.

from my research so far ,the only small boat to take is to cross the border Ecuador /Peru.then on both sides is larger cargo/passenger boats with an unreliable schedule..better ride around on the bike :punk: :punk:

Hi Forestwiz:

I visited Iquitos 4 times between 2011 and 2013, for work purposes.

There are a heck of a lot of cars in that town (Iquitos is a fairly big town), and a lot of motorcycles too. They must have got there somehow, and I doubt that they were flown in from the Pacific side of Peru.

I think that rather than trying to investigate ferries and other boats that primarily carry people, you might want to investigate how all those other vehicles got to Iquitos, and there you will find the solution to your question.

vehicles got there by daily cargo boats from Yurimaguas. not a mistery to investigate ;) .is just do not back track and use a different route in the way out of Iquitos

i know it´s a bit late, but...
i made it from Coca to tabatinga, on a self built raft, so tht´s cheated a bit. but it also showed me the biggest Problem on this rout: u will most probably not be able to quit u´r ecuatorian TIP. there is a passport Control on nueva rocafuerte (Ecuador) and pantoja (peru) but no aduana.

i know a cupple who mannaged to go the other way round, from Iquitos (where u quit the peruvian TIP) to Coca. then they went to Quito for the main aduana Office to then there get the ecuatirian TIP.

Waterways exist, if u dont minde to get u´r bike transported in smalish canoes u´r fine....
