Chile route going south
 

Hello guys, we are still riding strong and have reached Mendoza, Argentina where we are getting ready to cross into Chile.

We are planning to go from here to the beach but do not have a planned route. We would like to get some suggestions to go from (crossing at tunnel Cristo Redentor) Concon towards Villarica. Places to stay, camping, routes, etc. We prefer to ride on secondary roads in good shape.

It's not quite what you asked for, but Pan de Asucar is amazing, though a fair ways north from where you are. I was there in March 2012, beautiful deserted beaches and good cheap camping. May not be the same in mid-summer now....

I recommend Salto del Laja.
It's nothing really spectacular - a waterfall.
But it's 5km away from Routa 5 and has a few campsites to choose from (I paid 3000/person).
Makes a convenient stop on the way to/from Villarrica.
