Please do a search, there's loads of info.

Basically:
1. Get a RUT number.
2. Make a deal on a bike.
3. Go to a notario to draw up the sale documents (power of attorney).
4. The title will be sent to a specified address in about 4 weeks.

It looks easy...

Hi,

Step 1 - the RUT Number

we got it yesterday, at the SII, Servicios Impuestos Internos

You only need your Passport, a copy of it, and any address... we used the Hotel address. We got the RUT Number in 10 minutes - for free!
Later they can send the official card somewhere or you pick it up, it takes at least a month to make it... but you donĀ“t need it, because your number is already valid!

Step 2

We bought a bike, new - Honda CGL 125

Step 3

The guy offered to do all the paperwork for less than 20 bucks, not bad - or?

Now we are waiting... maybe we get the bike today...

later more...

See you - Jens

It is registered!

Hi guys,

I am really surprised how easy it was! The bike is registered and on the road!

Here the address of the dealer:

Motos Cordero
(Sergio)
Avenida Argentina 1256
Antofagasta

Tel: 375 795

only speaks spanish...very helpful!

My friend Julie is on the road, later some pictures...

See you at the HU Meeting Germany, end of October

Jens

And the little Honda goes like a dream! We've hit the 1,000 km mark (ready for first service within 3 days - rather than the recommended 30!), we can now go faster than 70 kph! Wahoo! :scooter: We've already met many friends and been chased by countless dogs along the way!

I wouldn't be on this adventure without the help of people like Jens, Motos Cordero and everybody who has posted comments to our request! Thank you all (and in case you didn't notice - there's one very happy lady buzzing around the North of Chile!)!!! :-D

Keep the rubber side down!
Julie
