Cash ATM and Cambio in Argentina
 

I have heard and seen mixed information regarding money in Argentina, Is it better to take cash, and if so what kind, is it easy to change some money or post-COVID is card payment the best option now?

Cash dollars only, NO POUNDS , card for emergencies and if you do use it u will get HALF the amount of pesos vs cash

I plan to start from the south and work north, will this still be the same?

There now. direction of travel makes no real difference, unless you move very slowly. Summer is the best down south, roughly Nov to march

I would be looking to start from the very south and cross from Chile
So in Rio Gallegos or Esperanza the same? They all look like pretty small places on the map.
