Can I leave Brasil without my bike and then come back?

Hello all,

We`re in Foz do Igaucu on the Brasilian side having ridden up from Uruguay. We want to see Igaucu on both the Brasilian and Argentinian side and then head to Paraguay from the Brasilian border.

Getting into Brasil took a while with a long waiting time on paperwork for the bike. Rather than drive across, see the falls, then drive back, all in a day, we thought it would be better to leave the bike and do a tour over. However I have a fear that they won`t let me leave the country without my bike.

Is this fear unfounded?

Can I leave my bike in Brasil, go to Argentina, then return and pick up my bike again?

Anyone done this before.

Please help!

Cheers

Reece

You can stay in Brazil with a foreigner vehicle just up to 90 days. If you stay longer the bike can be confiscated by the customs authority but there´s nothing in the Brazilian laws about you need to leave the country with you bike. If you have plans to stays in Brazil for less than 90 days would be no problem. Any doubts let me know.

hi,
I agree. bkm is right.
there is nothing in your VISA about your bike. There is no linkage between the Temporary Import Permission and your passport.
Take it easy... and enjoy foz do iguaçu and foz de iguazu.:mchappy:
Hugs!

thanks for the advice guys. You were both right, no issues getting out and getting back in. LOVED the falls and we off to Paraguay tomorrow.

Once again the Hubb has helped out big.

Cheers
