I am trying to see what people end up spending on the road altogether when traveling through central and south america.

i plan on going all the way from mexico down to south america and cruisin around for a few months.

how much do you spend on food???
how much are cheap hotels???
what are gas prices like??? - i gather they are pretty cheap or at least similar to US is this true????
do i really need to skip colombia??? - like so many people do

i appreciate any and all advice, but especially advice from some old heads who have done it themselves...

There's LOADS of info on the hub on this topic. Try the search engine: "budget central america" and "budget south america", i got a few very informative hits.

okay i tried searching both of those, and the only thing that showed up was this post, so please be more specific

DON'T include the quotes - if the quotes are put in the search box that means the EXACT phrase - so it did it exactly correct - found this thread.
