Buying Bike & Registration in Brazil? Travel SA?
 

Hi.
I'm Olli from Germany.
My plan is to buy a bike in Brazil, register it as a foreigner and ride it all the way from Brazil, Argentinia to Alaska.
Do you think that will be possible?
Would be veeeeery happy for your help!

Hey Olli,

Welcome. It's incredibly expensive for bikes in Brazil, they have very large import taxes. It would make much more sense from that perspective to buy a bike in the US or Canada and ride it down or transport a bike in from another country. There are plenty of posts talking about buying and shipping, have a read through and you'll get a clearer picture of how most people do it and some of the pros and cons of each approach. Hmm, I'm on a worldtrip, shipped my bike home from Australia...
my plan is now to drive from South to North (on a brazilian bike), sorry!!
Planned to do it on a Honda CD 70, that apparently was/is very popular in Brazil!?

Ahh, I see. If you are keen on the idea of a CD70, should be a good adventure if the buying and registering works out.

It is a long way up as you know so if you are also considering something bigger (at which point the earlier comments about cost kick in) then you may want to consider picking up a travellers bike that has been ridden down to South America. A few benefits of that including the fact that you could potentially sell the bike when you get up north. Check out the bikes for sale section, usually a few in BA as well if you are flexible in departure countries. Ride safe.
