Buying a local vehicle in Argentina
 

Gidday,
I'm in Buenos Aires and wanting to buy a vehicle secondhand to travel a few countries around the continent.
Could people with experience in this matter please offer some useful advice. I'm starting to get the feeling this could be quite difficult to achieve.

so nobody has ever bought a bike in Argentina to use in South America? If anybody has I would love to hear about the purchasing process.
I've already completed 2 full Trans-Americas in a Transit Van and on a 1200GS. I find myself now in Buenos Aires wanting to continue to some different countries. Unfortunately Globebusters didn't let me keep the bike after this latest tour. Can't understand it.

Do a search for xfiltrate's info on this subject- he has posted it several times. I do know it is much more difficult to purchased used than new as far as the paperwork. I believe in either case you cannot leave the country with the vehicle until you have had it a year, BUT I am no expert and xfiltrate is.
